Adam Bielan was elected senator in October 2015 and assumed the post of Deputy President of the Senate in November that year. He serves on the Foreign and EU Affairs Committee and the National Defence Committee. 

Political scientist by education, he was member of the European Parliament for two terms between 2004 and 2014 and served as Vice-president of the chamber (2007-09). He was co-founder of the political group of European Conservatives and Reformists and deputy chairman of the group. Prior to that he was member of the lower chamber of the Polish parliament (1997-2004). 

He was elected to the Senate as candidate of the Law and Justice party.
