Kristof Altusz
Deputy State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Hungary

Kristóf Altusz studied international relations at Budapest Corvinus University along with English and German language and literature at Péter Pázmány Catholic University, he holds an M.A in all three disciplines. He is married, and has two children.

He began his carrier at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2002 at the Protocol Department and moved on to the Department of International Organizations. One year later he was employed by the Office of the Hungarian National Assembly, as foreign policy advisor. Parallel to this mandate, between 2003-2004, he was also the coordinator of the Hungarian delegation to the European Parliament. From 2006 on, he worked for the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian Parliament. In 2010 he moved back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was posted to Berlin, as counsellor in charge of the political section. Returning from Germany in 2014 he took on the position of Head of Department for European Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Later on this year he was appointed as Deputy State Secretary for European and American Affairs. He was deputy head of delegation during Hungary’s 2015 IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance) Presidency and Co-President of the Hungarian-Romanian Joint Committee on Minority Affairs in 2015. He is currently advisory board member of the German-Hungarian Youth Office.
