MG Gordon B. “Skip” Davis Jr.

MG Gordon B. “Skip” Davis Jr. is currently the J3 (Director of Operations) for the United States European Command. He graduated from West Point in 1981 and was commissioned Infantry. MG Davis most recently commanded the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.

His previous general officer assignments include Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations and Intelligence, SHAPE; Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Combined Arms Center and Deputy Commandant, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College; Deputy Chief of Staff Operations and Intelligence, Allied Rapid Reaction Corps; ISAF Joint Command CJ5; and Deputy Commanding General, 1st Cavalry Division.  In addition to tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, MG Davis has participated in U.S., NATO, and UN operations in Bosnia, Mozambique, Zaire, Rwanda, Congo and Liberia.

Prior to flag rank MG Davis served primarily in airborne and infantry units.  Most of MG Davis’s career has been spent in Europe with assignments in Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain, and Belgium.  MG Davis served as an exchange officer with the Italian Alpini.  His advanced degrees include a masters in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, and masters in international relations and defense studies from the University of Montpellier, France where he was an Olmsted Scholar.
