Mikk Marran
Mikk Marran is Director General to Estonia’s Information Board.

Mikk Marran is the Director General of the Information Board – the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service – since 1 January 2016.

From 2011 to 2015, Mr Marran served as the Permanent Secretary of the Estonian Ministry of Defence. Prior to that Mikk Marran was the Undersecretary for Defence Investments of the Ministry of Defence (2010–2011). In 2006–2009 he worked in Brussels as the Defence Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Estonia to NATO. His previous positions in the MoD include Director of NATO and the ESDP Department (2005–2006) and Director of International Co-operation Department (2003–2005), with the beginning of his career in the Ministry of Defence dating back to 1999.

Mikk Marran holds a Master’s Degree in National Resource Strategy from the National Defence University in Washington D.C., where he studied in 2009–2010. He has also graduated from the University of Tallinn, with a BA degree in Public Administration. Mr Marran has studied diplomacy, international and EU affairs at the Pázmány Péter University in Budapest, Hungary and at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

Mr Marran has been awarded
theThird Class of the Order of the White Star by the President of the Republic of Estonia, the First Class of the Cross of Merit of the Ministry of Defence and has twice received the Cross of Merit of the Estonian Defence Forces.

Mikk Marran is married and has three children.
