Dr. Károly Grúber

Károly Grúber graduated as political scientist at Central European University and New York State University, he earned his PhD in 1998 from University of Sussex. Since 1999, he has worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, in various roles. Among those, between 2010 and 2015, he had been the head of the Foreign and Security Policy Office of the Permanent Representation of Hungary in Brussels (PSC-ambassador), and since 2015 he has been the head of department in charge for the coordination of the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.  Since 2006, he has been associate professor at Széchenyi István University and lecturer at the Doctoral School of Regional Economics and Business of the University.
He is the Honorary Research Fellow at the Centre for Central and Eastern European Studies of the University of Glasgow. He is the author of more than 60 articles on EU policy, international relations and regionalism/multi-level governance in leading British, Dutch, American, German, Hungarian and Romanian scientific journals.
He has been appointed as an Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary by the President of the Hungarian Republic in September 2010. He has been awarded the title „Knight of Grand Cross from the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic.” in November 2011 for his work during the Hungarian EU Presidency
