Christina Filarowski Sheaks
Christina Filarowski Sheaks led research teams at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) to advance nuclear materials security and to develop effective capabilities for monitoring nuclear weapons testing. 

She is currently the Senior Advisor for Defense Strategic Planning to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs, where she leads the development of science and technology investment strategies to improve capabilities for detecting and responding to proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.  She also leads efforts to expand partnerships for capability development and interoperability with other US government agencies and international partners.  Previously, she served as Senior Science Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Materials (2010-2012), Director for Strategic Communications for the Nuclear Posture Review (2009-2010), and Director for Capabilities Integration for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense (2006-2009).

Prior to serving in the Department of Defense, Ms. Filarowski served in the Department of State as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for Verification and Compliance and as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

She holds a B.S. in Engineering from Suffolk University and an MPA in Science and Technology Policy from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
