Marieluise Beck is a member of the German Bundestag. She was first elected to the German Bundestag in 1983 as a member of the Greens. In 2005, Ms. Beck became a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the German Bundestag, where she is the spokesperson on eastern European affairs for the Green parliamentary group on matters concerning Russia, Belarus, and the Western Balkan countries. Ms. Beck is a member of the German-Ukrainian group as well as the German-South Caucasus Parliamentary Friendship Group, and is a Member of the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe and the OSCE. For her work on human rights issues in Eastern Europe, she has been awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
