Tomasz Szatkowski

Tomasz Szatkowski has served as the President and a founding member of the National Centre for Strategic Studies, the first Polish think tank dedicated to the study of national defense and security issues (2013 - Present). Greatly interested in the topics of national security policy, intelligence strategy, classical military thought, and the interplay between technology and strategy, Mr. Szatkowski received his MA in Law from the Warsaw University (2002) and another MA in War Studies from King’s College, London (2006). He has continued his education by attending the Staff Officer Development Course at the Monterrey Naval Postgraduate School (2007) and completed the Defense Policy and strategy Management course at the Defense Academy of the United Kingdom (2014).

Throughout his academic career, Mr. Szatkowski has been awarded several fellowships, including the German Marshall Fund of the United States Asmus Policy Fellowship (2013), the U.S. Department of State International Visitors Leadership Program (2007) and the UK Ministry of Defense Cheapening Fellowship (2004). Before his tenure as President of the National Centre for Strategic Studies, Mr. Szatkowski served as an advisor to the Defense Legal Affairs Committee for the European Parliament (2009-2012), Chairman of the Supervisory Board for one of the largest Polish defense industry groups (2006 - 2008), a Staff Member with the Chancellory of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland (2005 - 2007), and Advisor to members of the Polish Parliament on matters of national security Legislation (2003 - 2005).
