Europe's Internal and External Challenges: Insight from the Czech V4 Presidency

In cooperation with the rotating presidency of the Visegrád Group and the Czech Embassy, CEPA hosted a breakfast discussion entitled "Europe's Internal and External Challenges: Insight from the Czech V4 Presidency." Moderated by CEPA Director of Research Peter Doran, the event featured Tomáš Prouza, Czech State Secretary for European Affairs and Ambassador Martin Povejšil, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the EU.

The Czech Republic assumed the rotating presidency of the Visegrád Group (V4) during a period of heightened uncertainty in Europe. Over the next year, the Czech Republic and its V4 neighbors must contend with complex policy questions over response strategies to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, European migration, and the looming possibility that Britain and/or Greece could change the status of their relationship to the European Union. How is Europe responding to these external and internal challenges; what can the V4 states do to resolve them; and what role should the United States play in this process?
