Dalia Bankauskaitė was awarded a Bachelor degree from Vilnius University (Lithuania), and a Master degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She also graduated from LSE's postgraduate course and received a Diploma in International Relations. She holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Baltic Management Institute (HEC Paris, Copenhagen Business School, Louvain Management School, Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration).

Bankauskaitė is currently the Advisor to the Information and Communication Department of the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania and lectures a master course of Public Diplomacy at Vilnius University. Ms. Bankauskaitė headed the EU Public Information Unit under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania for six years when the country was preparing for its accession to the EU. Prior to that, she worked as an information officer in the Delegation of the European Commission in Vilnius and as a political counselor of the Lithuanian Embassy in Moscow.  From 2004 to 2007 she provided assistance to the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina for preparation with EU negotiations. She was also engaged in designing the nations’ branding strategy as well as designing and later implementing an integrated communications strategy for the EU Structural Funds in Lithuania. In 2007–2009, Ms. Bankauskaitė worked as Managing Director for the EU culture program Vilnius - European Capital of Culture 2009.
